‘Somebody’s Always Leaving’ – Sue Harlow - reflective smiles and realised tears
(November 14, 2015)
Sue Harlow sings deeply emotive, heart-touching songs that lay down the essence acoustic Americana folk, and to find out just how fundamentally her lingering evocative vocals will move you listen to the poignantly titled ‘Somebody’s Always Leaving’. These are songs that reveal the highs and lows of the human condition - touches of sadness added to memory, expectation bound up in hope, faith tempered by understanding – this album pours out its messages pure and strong.
Vivid lyrics that tell untainted stories make songs that promote reflective smiles as well as realised tears - Sue has the gift to promote both. The evidence is crystal clear through songs like the honesty of ‘Coming Home’, the undeniable power of ‘Carry Me’and the outpouring of pain in ‘You’re Not Here’ and for a sharply focused view of passing time ‘Faded Away’ will get you every time. And wait for the title track that closes the album – if you don’t well up, then search for your feelings because you’ve probably misplaced them.
‘Somebody’s Always Leaving’ sums up its content. These are songs that have leaving at their heart - places, people, times and situations – and because we all understand the impact of leaving, this album will mean so much to all of us. Website: www.sueharlowmusic.com

I first heard Sue at Rapunzel's 2015 Songwriter's Contest show for finalists, and was blown away by her beautiful, strong voice! I paid her the highest compliment that I possibly could by saying how much she reminded me of Linda Williams (of Robin and...), because Linda has long been my favorite female singer. As a fellow songwriter, I listen to songs hoping that I will hear unique lyrics that tell an interesting story, and how closely the lyrics fit the "mood" of the tune. She clears this bar with room to spare! I look forward to hearing her again!

Beautiful music and love your voice. You do remind me of Kate Campbell. Hope to visit more and see you again.

“As a mastering engineer, it’s wonderful when I receive a project to work on that ends up making me a raving fan of the artist! Sue’s album is one that draws you in and takes you on a wonderful journey through her powerful songwriting and lyrics. It was expertly recorded by Sam Wilson (East of the Sun Studios) and Dave Stipe (Little Rhodie Productions), so I found the sonic element to be an excellent bonus. I’ve been listening as a fan since I finished the project, because I love it!”

"Sue Harlow brings us richly haunting vocals wrapped graciously around the curves between folk and country music. Each time you think you’ve heard the full reach of her voice, she takes it one notch farther. She’s one of our favorite friends and has been on stage for many various band groupings and songwriter’s competitions – her music is beautiful and you’re sure to be impressed."

“The DISCovery Award contenders were plentiful. Most of them, no surprise, were women, notably Virginia’s Sue Harlow, young Rebecca Lynn Howard and indie Kae Lynette”.

“Kinda funky and soulful. She drawls a blues tune over a really nifty, chunka-chunka electric guitar line and a killer backbeat. The working-girl lyric is cool, too”.
